NEW BEDFORD — The Missionary Sisters of Charity hosted a camp for children earlier this summer at their residence across the street from St Lawrence Church in New Bedford.

The camp has been in existence for approximately 20 years. Thirty-five youngsters attended this year’s activities on various days.

Each day the children were divided into groups according to age. Each of the four Sisters — Sister Magdalena, Sister Manorama, Sister Maria Jasmin and Sister Jose Therese — assumed the role of facilitator in one of the groups.

This year’s theme was “Blessed are the Peacemakers,” expressed in their theme song: “I’ve got peace like a river in my soul.”

There were arts and craft sessions, one of which was making Rosaries. There was singing with actions and movement, and once a week a trip to the park. They also visited the Fall River Children’s museum.
