FALL RIVER, Mass. — Joseph Harrington, an Easton resident with more than two decades of experience in finance and budgeting, began service last month for the Fall River Diocese as director of Financial Planning for Parishes and Schools.

In his new position, he will be assisting parishes and schools with financial analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, and long-term planning. He reports to diocesan chancellor Kevin R. Kiley.

Harrington comes to the diocese from Boston Financial Data Services, Inc., of Quincy, where he worked for 21 years, moving from a financial analyst to finance group manager, to director of finance and finally, in 2012, to vice president of finance. In the latter capacity, he was responsible for the company’s long-range financial plans including its annual budget, and financial reporting.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Bentley University in Waltham, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

In Easton, he resides with his wife and three children and is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, where he formerly served as a member of its Finance Council.
